Title: Not About You
Pairing: Dee/Ryo
Rating: NC-17
Summary: Dee knew he'd made a mistake checking out the old warehouse without backup. He just hadn't realized how badly he'd screwed up until he heard Ryo's voice.
Notes: Set shortly after volume seven. Written for [info]bronze_ribbons - or more accurately, because of [info]bronze_ribbons, who gave me all seven volumes of Fake as a surprise present with an admitted ulterior motive. It worked, for which I am extremely grateful! I am also grateful to her for beta reading. My apologies to the poor fellow at Starbucks who happened to catch my eye just when I needed a villain.

Not About You )

again, at last )

but maybe she should have said always wear underwear (aka TMI on why I haven’t been around for several months) )

Here's one more story in the John/Ronon series. This may be it - I seem to have run out of idioms, at least for the moment.

I’ve wanted to write something Sheppard-centric from the moment Miller’s Crossing ended. (It's probably no secret to any of you that I'm fascinated by characters with a dark edge to them...) This, however, is not the story I meant to write; maybe that one will come out some time, when it gets ready. Sadly, it will have to get in line, behind work and beta reading and possibly a Snape/Dumbledore vignette (that one took up residence in my back brain last night without any warning whatsoever).

For today, though...

Title: All In
Pairing: Sheppard/Dex
Rating: NC-17
Summary: When John is in, he's all in.
Notes: Miller's Crossing tag. Fifth story in the Idiomatic series; follows Par for the Course, Making a Splash, Shooting Straight, and Staking a Claim.

All In )

We had a good time with maritus's family, but I am oh so very glad to be home again at last. I'm even happier to still have three days before I have to go back to work - I have fond hopes of sleeping enough to recover from the trip...

I've only caught up to Christmas Eve on IJ/LJ so far, but I've found a truly lovely surprise. [info]cordeliadelayne offered drabbles this year, and she wrote me a steamy Sheppard/Ronon ficlet, The One with the Sex (or here on IJ). Rated NC-17, as you might guess from the title. If only all their sparring sessions could end this well! ;)

An early Happy New Year to you all.

Title: Staking a Claim
Pairing: Sheppard/Dex
Rating: NC-17
Summary: Ronon didn't mean to be jealous.
Notes: PWP Travelers tag. Fourth story in the Idiomatic series; follows Par for the Course, Making a Splash, and Shooting Straight. It will make more sense read after those stories, but it can be read alone.

Stake a/your claim: to make it clear that you want something )

ETA: Go on to the sequel, All In

Title: Shooting Straight
Pairing: Sheppard/Dex
Rating: NC-17
Summary: Sheppard and Ronon finally talk – but not much.
Notes: PWP Reunion tag. Third story in the Idiomatic series; follows Par for the Course and Making a Splash, but can be read alone.

Shoot straight: to talk or deal honestly )

ETA: Go on to the sequel, Staking a Claim

Title: Making a Splash
Pairing: Sheppard/Dex
Rating: R
Summary: In which Ronon goes for a swim, and Sheppard misses the boat.
Notes: Second in the Idiomatic series; follows Par for the Course and will make more sense read after that story, though it can be read alone.

Making a Splash )

ETA: Go on to the sequel, Shooting Straight

Title: Par for the Course
Pairing: Dex/Sheppard pre-slash
Rating: PG
Summary: Sheppard and Ronon play.
Notes: Set on Earth, just after Sunday. Thanks to maritus for valuable technical advice (that is, for answering all my questions about golf without inquiring too closely as to why I wanted to know...).

Par for the Course )

ETA: Go on to the sequel, Making a Splash

As in, I’ve finally reached one regarding alternate journals. At least for the time being, I plan for my IJ to become my primary journal. I realize some of you have valid concerns about IJ (the offensiveness of the name, whether IJ can handle the growth spurt, etc.), but I have been increasingly unhappy with the way LJ has been handling (not handling!) recent events, and IJ appears to me to be the current best of a less than ideal set of choices. I’ll continue to post stories (few and far between as those have been, lately) here on LJ, as well as on GJ, JF, and the usual archives.

I plan to follow my IJ flist, and I also plan to continue keeping up with my LJ flist as best as I can - I know many of you are not moving, and I have no desire to lose track of any of you.

Speaking of keeping track, the fandom 411 directory looks like a convenient way to find people. (Do any of you know who owns the site?) Also, for Snape/Lupin fans, there’s a list of alternate journals here.

I just switched my JournalFen account to paid status, so if any of you are still wanting JF accounts, let me know.

Be well.

I just finished a rather stressful week at work - finally managed to check in on LJ, and clearly fandom's rather stressed as well... I'm hoping to have time to catch up a bit later this weekend, but for those of you who have been setting up alternate journals and haven't already found me, I'm musigneus at both GJ (here) and IJ (here).

ETA: And now also at JF (here), thanks to [info]kudra2324.

I stood in an astoundingly long and fun line for DH last night, and then I exercised enormous restraint and didn't stay up all night reading so as not to be too exhausted for real life commitments today - so I only finished it this evening. Spoilers )

Or maybe that should be 'What, it’s only been a week?' )

Maritus and the muslings and I are headed off tomorrow for an honest-to-goodness vacation: a trip of more than three days that isn't to visit relatives. I'm really, really looking forward to getting out of my office for a change! I don't expect to have net access, though, so I'll "see" you all in a week.

Ow, but not entirely )

Enough babbling - now a little pointing:

I posted a Klimt challenge on [info]hp_classic. Any of you who have ever thought you might want to draw something HP-related in Klimt’s style, or write something inspired by a Klimt painting or sketch, please have a look.

And don’t forget about the Dark Side challenge on [info]lupin_snape!

[info]fandom_counts

If you haven't already seen it, join the community to be counted as a member of the LJ fandom (any fandom!) community.

More than 16,500 journals so far, which means the fandom community accounts for at least 0.1% of LJ's 13 million journals. I'm not certain what percentage of their users is sufficient to make LJ/SA take notice, but that's a pretty large group (and an articulate and energetic group, at that). ETA: More than 33,000 now, so at least 0.25%.

Speaking of group impact... Like many of you, I've taken my account off automatic paid renewal, and I'm sorry to say that for the time being I'll be sending good wishes for special occasions but no shiny balloons or virtual flowers. I'll be finding other ways to spend my money until LJ (hopefully) responds positively to fandom concerns.

I still have a backup GJ, musigneus. I found some of you on GJ in the past and a few more today; if you also have a GJ and I haven't found you yet, please friend me there or comment. For now, I'm still here (as much or little as ever, anyway).

I’ve gone back and added titles and authors to the guess the fic meme I posted yesterday - with links, in case you saw an intriguing (or familiar) opening scene and want to find the story. They’re all well worth reading! As for guesses, [info]schemingreader is quick on the draw when it comes to Snupin, with [info]mechaieh a close second.

And speaking of Snape/Lupin, as a reminder: [info]snegurochka_lee is still offering quotes for the Dark Side challenge on [info]lupin_snape. The sign up post is here. June should be a good month for dark Snape/Lupin!

After playing on [info]secretsolitaire’s and [info]cordelia_v’s journals, I couldn’t resist inflicting the sheer frustration of saying “OMG I’ve read that, what’s the title again?” on all of you sharing the joy of revisiting well-loved stories with you.

Below are opening scenes from ten HP stories. The list is heavily weighted toward Snape/Lupin and slightly older stories, and I’ll confess that I avoided several favorites that I thought would be just too easy.

Can you guess the fics? (Authors, no guessing your own!)

Remember this one? )

Seems like I should have more to say for myself after a couple of months of silence, but "still here" pretty much sums it up. I blinked and weeks went by in a blur of work writing, but now I've had several blissfully work-free evenings in a row and I'm beginning to feel human again. I'm hoping work will stay quiet, for a few weeks at least - I could use a hefty dose of LJ to decompress! I've managed a start on that tonight, at last.

Speaking of which, several of you have posted this meme, and it's irresistible:

If you had me under your command and could make me write anything, regardless of whether or not I know the fandom or if anybody even writes fic in that fandom and no matter how crack-addled it might be, what would you love to see me write?

No promises (particularly since I'm already working on a couple of stories), but weeks of LJ/fiction writing deprivation have left me feeling rather susceptible. ;)

I'm still wrestling with that Snupin I started, but here's a dark little SGA ficlet.

Title: Sweet Dreams
Pairing: Sheppard/slash pairing withheld (but available here if you prefer)
Rating: NC-17
Warning: dubious consent
Summary: Sheppard had cheated him out of two comfortable situations now. Of course he was thinking about revenge; he just hadn't realized it could be so...pleasant.
Notes: Potential mild spoilers through Irresponsible.
